Te Māngai Pāho
Māori Language Media Funding Agency
Te Māngai Pāho is a Government-funded agency committed to supporting the Māori media and music sectors and collectively improving the outcomes of the Maihi Karauna, the Crown’s strategy for Māori language revitalisation.
The agency makes funds available for the production of content – including music – in te reo Māori for multi-platform distribution.
Te Māngai Pāho invests $1.5 million (plus GST) annually into Māori music projects, particularly the recording and release of waiata reo Māori for broadcast and streaming. Approved suppliers can apply for funds to support recording and release of a waiata containing more than 50% te reo Māori.
